Oh my! One year ago, this weekend, our family of faith last gathered together to worship as we Catholics have for centuries. We wore no masks, we entered through any door and we could talk and could hug one another. We did not know then it would be the last time we could practice our faith in the normal way. We did not know our Church doors would be shuttered by the following weekend. And when we did shut down we could not fathom that this would be very long term. One year ago… --more--
On Presidents’ Day I took my mom into Gillette to get her first vaccination shot. When we pulled into the parking lot there were a ton of people milling about. Some going into Gillette, others coming out– many elderly on canes, walkers and wheelchairs. As my mom and I approached the doorway we saw many volunteers and greeters ready to show us where to go. I hadn’t seen this many people in one place since the pandemic shut us down! --more--
So often during Lent we ask each other “What have you given up for Lent?” Many of us might say chocolate and sweets, others might say social media and complaining. As I pondered what I may give up or, fast from, this Lent it occurred to me with the pandemic raging on after 11 months what more could we give up? -more- click here
Recently, as I was searching for a nearby location that is offering the corona virus vaccine, I came across The Big Y, a supermarket in Kingston. I had never heard of the place before. On behalf of the mission team, we would like to thank the collaborative for your endless support and prayers during our 2019 year. We ministered to such a diverse and loving community in North Carolina. The teens ministered to home owners by fostering relationships with them, laboring to their needs, and even praying with them through difficult moments. The team’s faith flourished this past week. We grew closer to Jesus by not only acting as His hands and feet but embodying His compassion and kindness towards others. God stirred in each and every one of us. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, ordinary teens became faith-filled leaders. Thanks to everyone, we’ve reached our fundraising goal and are now inspired to begin looking into our 2020 mission. Stay updated with the team by checking in on this link. More info will be coming soon!
